Apple bounced back from its early failures and losses
to relaunch itself as a tech behemoth in the personal electronics space. This
is a recap of its incredible journey.
History is peppered with examples of how the
biggest successes in the world have risen from a bed of ashes to claim their
spot in the sun. True grit and innovation can take one really far. This has
been amply demonstrated in the case of Apple, the US-based tech behemoth.
Say the word ‘Apple’, and terms such as
‘excellence’ and ‘elegance’ come to mind. Known for its innovative phones,
tabs, personal computers, music players and watches, Apple is one of the
world’s leading lights in the personal electronics space. And yet, it did not start
off with such high prospects – indeed, if it had not stuck to its guns, the
company would have gone under in just a few years!
The early years
Apple Inc. was set up in 1976, but its
first product – a personal computer – came out only in 1984. At the time,
computers were used only by offices; it was unheard of to have a computer at
home for personal use.
But the first Apple Mac was not a success. It
found resonance with such users as authors, desktop publishers and graphic
artists, but not with other age groups. During this time, Steve Jobs left the
company after a prolonged bout of internal infighting. Meanwhile, Microsoft captured
the personal computers market with its IBM-compatible desktop PCs. Years later,
when Jobs returned as CEO in 1997, Apple was struggling to stay afloat and
considering shutting down altogether. With Jobs’ return, a new era dawned on
Apple.
The iMac and other successes
Creativity, simplicity and innovation are
hallmarks that Apple stands by in all its products. Jobs started this trend
with the Macintosh, or iMac computers, which were colourful, personalised
computers in variance with the staid, beige PCs then sold in the market. Apple
followed up this success with the iPod, iPad and iPhone in a decade – and
suddenly shot to the top of the personal electronics segment in America.
Not content with these successes, the
company set up Apple authorized
service center in many markets across the world – the Apple store in
Gurgaon is one of a chain of these stores – and began to offer the authentic
Apple experience across all customer touchpoints.
Technological superiority aside, Apple
represents a surreal digital and hardware experience that others do not. And
so, be sure to visit the nearest Apple store in Gurgaon to pick your favourite
gadget today. You can also take a look at Apple latest offers
and upgrades.
